What is Sublimation

Frequently asked questions
WHAT IS SUBLIMATION?
Sublimation is a chemical process technically defined as the changing of a solid particle directly into a gaseous state. Dye sublimation is the method specifically used for heat transferring. Inks designed for sublimation will first be used to print an image into a solid form with sublimation paper; that is then heat pressed onto a polymer-coated substrate, which will form into a gaseous state and permanently transfer onto your substrate. In layman’s terms, the heat press heats up the gas dye which is then pressed permanently into the surface of your substrate. Dye Sublimation is the next level in custom shirts and other apparel.

WHAT COLOR SUBSTRATES CAN I SUBLIMATE ON? White substrates are the best because they will not change the colors from your transfer.

WHY DOES MY HEAT PRESS SMELL FROM THE SUBLIMATION?

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT TIME & TEMPERATURE TO USE FOR MY SUBLIMATION PRODUCTS? Please click link to see the chart of recommended heat press times / temperatures for our substrates by material. The chart is only recommendations for pressing your products. There are many factors when pressing your products. {PLEASE REMEMBER EVERY HEAT PRESS IS DIFFERENT)

* Your heat press {Don't FORGET to check to make sure it's heating properly}

* Temperature and humidity in your work area

* Quality of your products (not every substrate is going to be the same)

* What state you live in.... for example Indiana vs Florida
