Stop Making Products for Other Crafters (Unless That’s Your Goal)

Hot take:

Likes from other crafters do not equal sales from customers.

They feel good. They’re validating. They make you think, “Okay, I’m doing something right.” But they don’t pay for supplies. Or booth fees. Or your time.

And if you’re honest… you’ve probably designed something at least once thinking, “Other makers are going to love this.”

That’s not wrong — unless your goal is to sell to actual buyers.

Here’s the difference: Other crafters notice technique.
Your customer notices meaning.

Crafters ask:
“How did you press that?”
“What blank did you use?”
“What temp and time?”

Your customer asks:
“Who is this for?”
“Would this make a good gift?”
“Does this feel special?”

When your content, products, and designs are made to impress other makers, you end up with a lot of compliments… and a lot of unsold inventory.

And this is where things usually go sideways.

You start chasing trends inside Facebook groups. You make things because they’re popular with other crafters. You buy blanks because everyone else is using them — not because you can clearly see them becoming a finished, sellable product your customer would actually buy.

Designing for customers means zooming out. It means asking yourself, “Where does this live?” “Who buys this?” “Why would they care?” before you ever open Canva or turn on your heat press.

This is exactly why Sublimation Box Club exists.

It’s not about throwing random blanks at you and hoping inspiration hits. Each box is curated to help you think like a business owner — with blanks that are giftable, sellable, and easy to imagine as finished products your customers actually want.

Less trend-chasing.
Less second-guessing.
More “oh, I know exactly how I’d sell this.”

So if your goal is to impress other crafters, keep doing what you’re doing.

But if your goal is to sell — to real people, with real money, for products that feel intentional — it might be time to stop designing for the group chat and start designing for your customer.

And if you want help doing that?
We’ve got a box for that. 💛
